Apple’s been working on a Siri overhaul for what feels like forever. The company keeps pushing back release dates. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is planning a February reveal for its revamped Google Gemini Siri with demonstrations showing what the partnership actually delivers. It’s unclear whether Apple will hold a full event or stick to private media briefings.

This marks the first public look at Siri running on Google’s technology since the companies confirmed their $1 billion partnership earlier this year. The new assistant is codenamed Campos internally. It represents a complete reversal for Apple executives who spent months insisting they didn’t want a chatbot-style assistant.

What the New Siri Can Actually Do

The updated assistant should tap into personal data and on-screen content to complete tasks. Apple first previewed these capabilities at WWDC 2024. The demo showed someone asking Siri about their mother’s flight details and lunch plans. The assistant pulled information from Mail and Messages automatically. That kind of cross-app awareness has been missing from Siri for years. Competitors like ChatGPT and Gemini made it standard.

However, the February demo is just a preview. According to Gurman, the new Siri will ship with iOS 26.4. That version enters beta testing in February before releasing to the public in March or early April. This means iPhone 15 Pro users and newer could actually use the Gemini-powered features within a few months. The update runs on Apple’s own Intelligence framework with Google’s technology integrated underneath. For those worried about Google getting access to their data, you don’t have to be. No user data gets shared with Google’s servers.

Then come iOS 27, a full chatbot version of Siri is expected to be part of the update. It’ll allow sustained back-and-forth conversations similar to ChatGPT or Gemini. The assistant will be built directly into iPhone, iPad, and Mac with no separate app required. Gurman says the chatbot will be competitive with Gemini 3. It’ll be significantly more capable than the version launching in iOS 26.4.

The timing makes sense for Apple. The company needs to deliver something impressive after delaying Siri’s AI features multiple times and facing internal skepticism about whether the technology actually works reliably.
