Xiaomi’s efforts at growing its EV division have proven to be a great success for the Chinese tech giant, and it looks like Xiaomi’s looking to capitalize on this momentum even further. More specifically, the company recently announced the opening of its Xiaomi EV Europe R&D and Design Center in Munich, Germany.

Xiaomi says that the new facility is a key step in its EV division’s global expansion, and likewise supports its “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem strategy. That being said, the Munich center will focus on development of performance vehicle projects, electric Vehicle (EV) technology development, design innovation, advanced research and customer orientation, as well as ensuring that vehicles meet global standards for safety and performance.
Additionally, the new centre will serve as a hub for engineers, designers, and researchers to collaborate on autonomous driving, EV platforms, and new user experiences. Xiaomi also plans to invest in partnerships with local research institutions and industries for smart mobility solutions.
This expansion follows the launch of several Xiaomi EV models which include the SU7, SU7 Ultra, and YU7; the company says that it plans to enter the European Market sometime in 2027.
