Anyone who follows along with my Setups coverage for Cult of Mac probably knows I’ve got a soft spot for great audio. And while my own setup and its surroundings bristle with solid audio gear, today’s M4 Mac mini workstation makes me twitch with envy. You can’t go wrong with KEF speakers — complete with subwoofer under the desk — as long as you have the cash to acquire them. And I’ve wanted Bowers & Wilkins headphones for years.
Killer KEF speakers rock triple-display M4 Mac mini setup
Great sound
KEF LSX II LT Wireless HiFi Speakers
KEF offers high-fidelity desktop sound in a compact package, with streaming up to 24bit/384kHz. The speakers support numerous media formats and streaming services. They come Apple AirPlay 2-ready.

- Apple AirPlay 2
- Supports Bluetooth 5.0, not the latest
Redditor Svesolid of Sweden showcased a vibrant and great-sounding setup in a post entitled, “My dream setup 2025.” Their mini-but-mighty desktop machine drives a phalanx of Apple displays new (Studio Display) and old (Thunderbolt Displays), which I covered in more depth recently.
The setup also includes an M1 iPad Air (5th generation) still going strong (I have one too and still use it daily), the ever-popular Logitech MX Master 3 wireless mouse and Logitech MX Keys wireless keyboard, and my favorite bits in the whole shebang — excellent KEF LSX II LT desktop speakers sitting on KEF P1 Desk Pads, plus quite nice Bower & Wilkins PX7 S2e over-ear noise-canceling headphones.
“All this to be able to do what I like most, electronic music production and photo editing,” they added. “What do you think?” Commenters seemed enthused.

At about $1,000 a pair, KEF LSX II LT Wireless HiFi Speakers attract people who are serious about their desktop audio. Svesolid mounts their white pair just so on KEF P1 Desk Pads to push the sound up and in the right direction (straight at the ears).
Features:
- LSX II LT offers high-fidelity sound in a compact size with streaming up to 24bit/384kHz.
- Supports HDMI ARC and USB-C inputs, making it the perfect companion for TV, desktop and more.
- Supported formats include: DSD, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC, AAC, WMA, MP3, M4A, LPCM and Ogg Vorbis.
- Streaming services include Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, QQ Music, internet radio and podcasts.
- Wireless streaming features: Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, UPnP Compatible and Bluetooth 5.0.
And under the desk, a KEF subwoofer greatly enhances the low end, so there’s plenty of bass in the mix — maybe even shaking the floor a little.
And for when Svesolid wants to keep the sound down, they don a pair of Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2e over-ear noise-canceling headphones. The storied brand charges much more for the top of the line PX8 cans, but the well-regarded PX7 S2e goes for $200 to $300 when they’re on sale, almost a bargain among premium sets.
