‘We Stay Behind’ Explores a Town that Will Die

We Stay Behind follows a journalist meeting the people who refuse to leave a town that’s going to be destroyed by a comet.

Ever wonder what it would be like to live in a town that’s going to be a disaster zone and everyone knows what is coming? This game casts you as a journalist going to a small town in the middle of a beautiful national park. Here, you’ll talk to those who have decided not to relocate despite knowing a comet is going to smash into the town, destroying everything.

We Stay Behind - a building that has been ruined by fire.

We Stay Behind has a stunning world where there are lots of spaces to explore, characters to interact with, and there is plenty to do. However, your time is limited, so you do need to choose who you interview and where you go wisely.

A lot of the people of Labumum Creek seem to be in some sort of dream. It’s like a spell has been cast over them. As you discover more of the secrets and mysteries, you’ll start to see where dreams and reality cross over. It’s important to know what mindset you want to bring into this town, too, as your choices will re-shape your understanding of the world.

We Stay Behind is an interesting game where there are plenty of moments of trauma, secrets, and mystery. I got the chance to play it at AdventureX, where I found myself captivated by the emptiness of the houses, the way the town felt, and the characters that were remaining. They seemed very curious and interested in their own world. I wanted to find out more, especially as the demo ended, but will need to wait for the full release.

We Stay Behind is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can grab a demo or add it to your wishlist on Steam.
