When is the next Fortnite live event? All we know ahead of Chapter 7 Season 2

Published on:

Fortnite’s Live Events are a spectacle, something that marks the end of a Season or a Chapter that involves everyone playing. Developer Epic Games has been showcasing these events since 2018 with Season 4, which began with The Rocket Launch. These usually mark the end of one event and begin another, with plenty of spectacle to make them incredibly memorable.

The last event, Zero Hour, was held on November 30, 2025, marking the end of Chapter 6. Another non-canon event was on New Year, held on January 1. But with Chapter 7, Season 2 set to launch around March, we’re laying out what could be happening for Fortnite’s next Live Event.

The Escapist recaps

  • Developed by Epic Games, Fortnite came out in 2017 for PC, followed by PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch consoles.
  • Live Events debuted in 2018 with Season 4, called The Rocket Launch.
  • The last major Live Event held was on November 30, 2025, called the Zero Hour event, where many collabs came together to defeat the Dark Presence.
  • These are great ways to hype up the preceding chapter or season, with an almost-on-rails experience that fully involves the players taking part.

There were two Fortnite Live Events. The first, called Zero Hour, was an in-canon event that marked the end of Chapter 6, Season 5. This involved many of the collabs that appeared throughout this Chapter, such as the Power Rangers, The Simpsons, Godzilla, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and many more.

The event revolved around defeating the Dark Presence in an area that harkened back to the finale of the Marvel movie, Avengers: Endgame. Everyone came together to defeat the creature, and once it fell, Chapter 7, Season 1 began with its Hollywood theme and a refreshed map.

Another, smaller Live Event was held from December 31 to January 1 to mark the New Year. This simply involved a purple ball falling from rift space, turning into a disco ball, with plenty of fireworks to mark the beginning of 2026. It was a great way to involve players in celebrating the end of one year and the start of another.

With Live Events happening in Fortnite since 2018, players have enjoyed the surprise and fun that these offer. One example is the Marvel Live Event at the end of 2020. Players faced one of its most-powerful villains, Galactus, as he tried to destroy the Fortnite map. It was hugely successful and one that many still remember, which only adds to the hype of what the next event may feature.

Epic Games has confirmed that Chapter 7, Season 1, will end in early March, with Season 2 set to change the map once again, likely from March 4. It will likely feature new characters to mark the theme that’s set to follow the current Hollywood inspirations, as well as the mini-collab featuring the animated show, South Park.

Rumors suggest that Season 2 will take inspiration from Norse mythology, with God of War’s Kratos returning to Fortnite to lead the new season. In addition, an Ice King is allegedly being featured as an island-wide boss fight, which could feature in the next live event in March to set the tone for Season 2.

It makes sense for Epic Games to revolve the upcoming season around another mythology. 2024’s Chapter 5 Season 2, called Myths and Mortals, based on Greek Mythology, was a big success for Fortnite, with a peak of roughly four million players. Norse has plenty of opportunities in the battle-royale title, such as Thor and Loki, which could open the door to an Avengers: Doomsday mini-season.

Nevertheless, we’re expecting the Live Event in March to be seismic, possibly bringing in some Norse themes that will upend Fortnite’s map once again. At the time of writing, there’s still plenty to enjoy from Chapter 7, Season 1. So, if you still want to unlock more skins like Marty McFly and The Bride, as well as South Park’s offerings, you’ve got two months to do it.
