“She’s in danger… He’s here.” Dracula lives on! Vertical has revealed their own official US trailer for new Luc Besson-directed Dracula movie (which is dropping the original subtitle “A Love Tale” for this release), one of three new Dracula movies the past few years (with Radu Jude’s Dracula & Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu). This already opened in France in the summer earlier this year – we posted the trailer back then along with a making of featurette. While the original Bram Stoker story leaves on the doomed ship the Demeter, Besson’s take will focus on the beginning of Dracula’s life and his relationship with his wife. Caleb Landry Jones (who was also in Besson’s DogMan) stars as Prince Vladimir. When his wife is killed, a 15th century prince renounces God and becomes a vampire living endlessly. Centuries later in 19th century London, Vlad sees a woman resembling his late wife & pursues her, sealing his fate. Also starring Zoë Bleu Sidel, Christoph Waltz, Matilda de Angelis, and Guillaume de Tonquédec. This looks like a bonkers action-adventure historical epic more than a dark, Gothic tale of a vampire – but I think that’s the whole idea behind this one.

In the 15th century, Prince Vladimir (starring Caleb Landry Jones) denies God after the brutal and cruel loss of his wife. He inherits a curse: eternal life. He becomes Dracula. Condemned to wander through the centuries, he has only one hope left: to find his lost love. Dracula: A Love Tale, also known as just Dracula, is written and directed by French filmmaker Luc Besson, director of many hit movies including Subway, The Big Blue, Nikita, Léon: The Professional, The Fifth Element, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, Angel-A, Arthur and the Invisibles, Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard, Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec, Arthur 3: The War of the Two Worlds, The Lady, The Family, Lucy, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Anna, and DogMan previously. It’s inspired by the original book Dracula by Bram Stoker, first published in 1897. Produced by Virginie Besson-Silla. Executive produced by Philippe Corrot. With music by Danny Elfman. EuropaCorp opened Dracula: A Love Tale in French cinemas on July 30th, 2025. Vertical opens Besson’s Dracula in US theaters starting February 6th, 2026. Anyone interested?
