“Can we go again? I’d like another one…” Time for another recap of this last year in cinema. While we wait for David Ehrlich’s annual countdown video (arriving in early January) here’s another one looking back at the best of the year. This video countdown is put together by movie lovers Kyle Wilson and Patrick Ryan – featuring their combined picks for the 25 Best Films of 2025. Time to find out what won them over in 2025! (Watch their 2024 video here.) This also includes a very entertaining montage – an intro packed with other films that didn’t make the cut and an impressive soundtrack of songs for their look back at the year in film. I’m very happy to see a number of more unique picks in their Top 25 – including Mickey 17, Roofman, Friendship (hilarious film), Eephus (still so good), Black Bag, Blue Moon, and even the very funny legacy sequel The Naked Gun. Also interetsing to note – they used this Hamnet shot for the title card in the video, yet surprisingly Hamnet is nowhere to be found within this Top 25 at all. So be it. Plenty others to celebrate.

Thanks to Twitter for the tip on this video countdown. Here’s their quick intro from YouTube: “Extremely biased countdown video of our favorite movies of 2025.” This video is edited and created by two film critics: Patrick Ryan (follow him @PatRyanWrites) and Kyle Wilson (follow him @icanvalk). They make this video every year as part of their end of the year recaps. Always invigorating to rewatch all of this footage. Here’s their full list of 2025 faves: #25 – Mickey 17; #24 – The Naked Gun; #23 – The Secret Agent; #22 – 28 Years Later; #21 – Eephus; #20 – Final Destination Bloodlines; #19 – The Long Walk; #18 – Pillion; #17 – Die My Love; #16 – The Mastermind; #15 – No Other Choice; #14 – Marty Supreme; #13 – Resurrection; #12 – If I Had Legs I’d Kick You; #11 – Black Bag; #10 – Blue Moon; #9 – Friendship; #8 – Roofman; #7 – Sinners; #6 – The Testament of Ann Lee; #5 – Sorry, Baby; #4 – Sentimental Value; #3 – It Was Just an Accident; #2 – Eddington; #1 – One Battle After Another. What do you make of their top 25 picks this year?
